Student Discounts

Here's a place to post about, or enquire about student discounts.

AMC Theatres BayStreet - $8 movie tickets, The normal price is $10 the matinee price is $8, with a student ID, you can get the $8 price anytime. Buying tickets in advance also works, no idea about buying multiple tickets with one ID. You can't buy them online though.

Apple Store, at the Store in BayStreet and also online. 10% on most Apple Branded items, most notably the Apple Hardware, some items are discounted only on the online store, and not in the brick and mortar store. I forget how you need to qualify as a student for the online store, but if you're in the brick and mortar, just show your ID at the cash register.

Know any other great tips? Post em here!

I just used the apple discount last night. There are a few catches that everybody should know about. The in-store discount is hardware only. For software you have to buy online. Also, you need to show government issued ID in addition to your student ID to process the purchase. I rode my bike over without my ID and had to ride all the way home and back. Worth it for 40 bucks off though.

There is also a thing called the "Student Advantage" which can be bought online. I researched it for myself and because I don't spend that much money on fast food or clothing it wouldn't be worth it. Kabuki theatre in SF accepted my ID for a discount on movie tix. Haven't tried anywhere else except for Apple.

San Francisco Museum of Modern Art offers a student discount ($6 as opposed to $10). Of course, the first tuesday of every months is free for everyone.

Last time i checked, Amsterdam Art in Berkeley had a 10% student discount.
